Nursery Assistant / Horticulturalist

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated experienced plant nursery assistant to join the team within our on site nursery situated within our 16 acre site. We have a significant area of covered growing space including both glasshouses and poly tunnels. Reporting directly to our Nursery Manager you would be directly responsible for the day to day running of the nursery, forming a key role in keeping up our high standards. As a garden centre we have forged an excellent reputation for quality plants and producing predominantly basket plants and perennials both for direct retail sale or use within our premade displays and hanging baskets.

As with all positions at the centre, you may be required to work in other departments within reason, as and when necessary, however key duties in this position will predominatly include;

· Working as part of our production team, growing a wide range of plants from propagation to retail sale on our planteria.

· Liaison with the head gardener in our Historic RHS Partner Garden to assist in selecting the range of plants to grow and propagate.

· Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation at all times.

· Assisting customers in a polite, knowledgeable and welcoming manner as appropriate particularly if engaged in aspects of work within retail areas ‘out of season’

Hours:

Full Time (40 Hours per week)

Salary:

Circa £22,000 (But negotiable for the right candidate)

Requirements:

Applicants must primarily be friendly, honest and reliable with the ability to work alone or as part of a larger team. A keen interest in horticulture, accompanied by a sound knowledge of horticultural principles and a passion for plants, their display and upkeep is essential. Formal training would be an advantage but newly qulaified applicants and suitably experienced time served individuals from within the field would also be welcomed. The ability to work weekends on a rota basis is essential. Excelent customer service skills to maintain our high standards along with being physically fit as lifting and manual labour will form a large part of this role.

Morning Cleaner

We are looking for flexible, hardworking and enthusiastic candidate to join our expanding team. The succesful applicants would be responbsible for maintianing the high standards of cleanliness that we have become known for across the whole site. You will form a key part of the team, being directly responsible for the daily opening and operating of both our onsite restaurants, 'The Walled Garden' & 'The Bothy'.

National Living Wage (dependant on age).

Requirements:

Applicants should ideally have experience working as part of a large catering team within a similar high volume setting. Hard working, with a good work ethic and the ability to work weekends on a rota basis.
